In engineering, carpentry and construction, nails refer to pointed hard metal (usually steel), which is used to fix wood and other objects. Hammers are used to nail nails into objects, and there are also electric nail guns and gas nail guns. Nails are able to stabilize articles, and hang on them by their own deformation, and rely on friction.
Nails have different shapes due to their many uses. The most common nails are called "wire nails". In addition, common nail names include pins, thumbtacks or brad nails.
